BONSAI SLOVAKIA

Barborka Ondejčíková (Slovakia)
Barborka Ondejčíková (1990) is currently a student of
the Master of Arts in Diplomatic Studies at the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic
Studies (MEDAC) at the University of Malta graduating in September 2012. Her Master thesis
focuses on the Impact of the European diplomatic service on the national diplomacy of
small EU Member States, with the case study of Slovakia.


Before coming to Malta, she was studying International
studies-diplomacy at the University of Economics in Prague, Czech Republic, where she
gained her Bachelor degree with Distinction. She is greatly interested in diplomacy,
foreign affairs, protocol, Public Relations, marketing, foreign languages, cultures of
other countries and nations. She loves bonsais, suiseki, Math, dancing, karate and, of
course, good tea.

Due to her huge interest in national diplomacy, she did an
intership at the Embassy of Slovakia to Vietnam in Hanoi during the summer 2011. Her dream
is to become a great Slovak diplomat as she loves being in foreign countries, speaking in
foreign languages and promoting her beautiful homeland Slovakia.

Barborka fully participates in the organisation of the
international bonsai, suiseki and tea exhibition Bonsai Slovakia, which annually takes
place in Nitra and is organised by Bonsai Centrum Nitra and Tea House of Good People. She
is responsible for the Public Relations with visitors and customers, taking care of
international guests and hosting at the stage. Barborka performs there also Chinese Tea
Ceremony, helps with translations and photo-taking. She has been present at the visits of
the president of the Slovakia, Mr. Ivan Gašparovič as well.

During her studies in Prague, she was elected as one of
two representatives of the Faculty of International Relations at the Academic Senate of
the UE. She was also working as the Head of Public Relations at the student non-profit
organisation ESN VŠE Praha - Buddy System. Barbora initiated the publishing of the new
student magazine Buddy UP, of which she was later on the editor-in-chief. As a volunteer,
she was helping to the Czech-Slovak Foreign Institute with arranging books, CDs and toys
for children of the Slovak and Czech communities abroad.

Barbora speaks English, German, French . Her language
skills were improved thanks to the language camps at EF International School in Malta,
Manchester, Miami Beach, Vienna and Nice. She is currently struggling with Maltese
language.

As a life motto, she believes in the vision of the Buddy
System : 'breaking down barriers, bringing the world together'.


She was already working at high school as a redactor of a
school magazine Nezmar, mathematic-physical magazine 3,14 and magazine Bonsai and Tea
distributed in Slovak and Czech Republic. In the magazine Bonsai and Tea, she was writing
her own reportage for children called Tea House of Good Children. Her most successful
articles reportages were about a bonsai masters in Malta, where she conducted an interview
with the president of Bonsai Culture Group, Mr. Paul Debono, and also about bonsai masters
in Florida, where she set up a new nice bonsai friendship.

Barborka Ondejčíková (1990) je
momentálne študentkou diplomacie na MEDAC, University of Malta.
Predtým bola študentkou
VŠE v Prahe. Študovala odbor Zahraničné vzťahy a diplomacia. Zaujíma sa o cudzie
jazyky, kultúru a tradície rôznych krajín a národov. Má rada aj bonsaje,
sukulenty, matematiku, tanec a samozrejme dobrý čaj.
Na medzinárodných
výstavách organizovaných Bonsai centrom Nitra a Čajovňou dobrých ľudí predvádza
čínske čajové rituály, pomáha tlmočiť vystúpenia a rozhovory a podieľa sa na
organizácii výstav.

Počas štúdia na VŠE Praha
bola zvolená do Akademického senátu školy a pracovala v študentskej
organizácii ESN VŠE Praha - Buddy System, ktorá sa starala o zahraničných študentov.
Iniciovala a realizovala vydávanie nového časopisu Buddy UP.
Štúdium jazykov si
prehĺbila na študijných pobytoch s EF International School v Nice, Vichy (Francúzsko),
Miami (USA), Viedeň (Rakúsko), Manchester (UK) a na Malte.

Už na gymnáziu pracovala
ako redaktorka školského časopisu Nezmar, matematického časopisu Tri celé štrnásť
3,14 a domovského magazínu Bonsaj a čaj. V magazíne Bonsaj a čaj viedla rubriku pre
deti nazvanú Čajovňa dobrých detí. Jej najúspešnejšími samostatnými
reportážami boli články o bonsajistoch na Malte, kde skontaktovala a navštívila
prezidenta Bonsai Culture Group pána Paula Debona a o bonsajistoch na Floride, s ktorými
nadviazala dobré priateľské kontakty.
